Bill has tried bench and jury trials involving catastrophic injury, construction disputes, partnership litigation, will contests and business disputes, and has been lead attorney on a number of appellate cases.

## Public service

Bill Broughton has been a trial attorney in the West Sound for over 35 years. He spent his early years in public service. As City Attorney for Bremerton, his office modernized the city's insurance and risk management functions, bringing most cases in-house for defense.

He has tried bench and jury trials involving catastrophic injury, construction disputes, partnership litigation, will contests and [business disputes](https://www.kitsaplawgroup.com/silverdale/business-lawyer/). Over decades of handling complex cases, Bill has also built relationships with experts in many fields. Those resources help him build thorough, convincing arguments on behalf of his clients.

## Appellate work

Bill has been the lead attorney on a number of appellate cases. Examples of his appellate work appear in these published opinions:

- *Schmitt v. Cape George Sewer Dist.*, 61 Wn. App. 1, 809 P.2d 217 (1991), a challenge to a utility local improvement district.
- *Estate of Haselwood v. Bremerton Ice Arena, Inc.*, 66 Wn.2d 489, 210 P.3d 308 (2009), concerning the priority of a mechanics lien recorded on public property.

## Community

Bill is committed to our community. He has handled several pro bono cases of public interest, has served on a variety of boards and committees, and is the current President of the Kitsap Building Association.
