## About David P. Horton

A former Captain in the United States Marine Corps, David formed his own firm in 2005 after working in construction litigation and as in-house counsel for the City of Bremerton. His practice ranges from complex civil litigation to commercial evictions.

## Service before law

After college, David served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. Following several tours that took him to Iraq and other trouble spots, he was assigned as the Marine Corps Detachment Executive Officer on the USS Carl Vinson.

## Building a practice in Kitsap County

After leaving active duty, David graduated magna cum laude from Seattle University School of Law. He then went to work for a growing Seattle firm, working primarily on [construction litigation](https://www.kitsaplawgroup.com/silverdale/real-estate-lawyer/construction/). Because he missed Kitsap County, he accepted an in-house position with the City of Bremerton. In 2005, David formed his own firm.

## His practice today

David's practice ranges from complex [civil litigation](https://www.kitsaplawgroup.com/silverdale/litigation-lawyer/) to commercial evictions. He represents property owners, municipalities, businesses and individuals in [real estate](https://www.kitsaplawgroup.com/silverdale/real-estate-lawyer/), construction, [land use](https://www.kitsaplawgroup.com/silverdale/real-estate-lawyer/land-use/) and other civil litigation.

David is admitted to practice in all Washington courts, the Federal Court for the Western District of Washington and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has tried and argued cases at every level of Washington's courts, from municipal court to the Washington Supreme Court.

## Outside the office

David lives in Poulsbo with his wife, Kylie, their kids and two reasonably well-behaved dogs, Murphy and Taco. In his spare time he sails with his family, hikes the Pacific Northwest, builds and paddles kayaks, skis, and runs much slower than he used to.
